KUNYAZA – African Eroticism – Reading time approx: 13 minutes

What is Kunyaza? Every civilization in the world has developed and presented its own sexual practices, and techniques over time, with the African continent being no exception.

Sexuality is no longer a taboo subject in modern times. In the following article we introduce you to a sexual technique that you can explore with your partner in search of absolute pleasure.

Kunyaza (African Eroticism) is a sexual technique that is widely used in countries across the African continent.

The Kunyaza Legend

Since this sexual practice is traditional in African states, it also has a fairly ancient history over the centuries. It is said to have occurred during the third monarchical dynasty. Begining in the African state of Rwanda.

It is said that, during the king’s absence, the Queen demanded that one of the guards (named Kamagere) was to satisfy her sexually.

Kamagere agreed, but he was so moved by the possible effects, that his body trembled.

Instead of penetrating the Queen, the penis stimulated her clitoris and lips, with the technique now known as Kunyaza.

The liquid current, triggered by this movement, was called ‘Kunyara’.

The ability of Rwandan women to excrete large amounts of liquid during the Kunyaza (African Eroticism) is due to another ancient tradition called Gukuna.

This habit involved girls from the age of 8 pulling at their lips to prolong them.

Gukuna was originally practiced as a way to offer better protection to the elongated skin. This provided access to the vagina, thus keeping it clean.

It was later found that these women had increased sensitivity, during intercourse. They were also more susceptible to ejaculation, making this habit mandatory.

“Thirty years ago, it was an obligation. Every woman who got married, had to have a Gukuna” says Vestine Dusabe (a seologist in Kigali). Today, however, this tradition is no longer so widespread. Older relatives are too busy to teach young people, and therefore most young people in Rwanda reject Gukuna, as this is a practice that is only possible in rural areas.

Other names for the sexual practice of Kunyaza

The word Kunyaza originates from the villages of Rundi (Rwanda) and derives from the verb kunya’ra,  which means “urine” due to this sexual practice, but also female ejaculation.

Therefore, the term can also mean “wet sex”.

Known in other regions by different names – the term Kakyabali (or ‘Kachabali’ in anglitized spelling) – is used in Uganda in slang.

It is popularly known as ‘wet sex’, as previously mentioned. In the Western world, what we call ‘squirting’ comes close.

Rwandan men seem to have found a very nice nickname for women who depend on this technique: Shami Rytikivu, which means “putting a bucket under a woman“.

Due to the amount of extinct vaginal fluid (one litre or more), this type of sex is often characterized by the noise. This is caused by someone hitting the water with the palm of their hand.

For this reason, in order to define the technique specifically, the people of Rwanda have the term “dog drinking water”.

Geographical distribution

In terms of spreading this practice, it has gone far beyond the borders of these countries.

After an opinion poll on the subject in the African state of Rwanda in 2008, the men who took part in the interview sent a message to women in Europe and invited them to visit their country to benefit, among other things, from the joys offered by this unique sexual technique.

From 2010, this sexual practice became more and more popular worldwide through social channels in Kenya.

What is Kunyaza?

Kunyaza (African Eroticism) is a traditional sexual technique, designed to trigger a female orgasm.

The woman can reach cloud nine in a different way than through vaginal penetration.

Whislt it is known that some women do not achieve orgasm, even during penetration, Kunyaza is a system based on stimulation of a woman’s gender.

The man must caress or tap the end of the penis on the clitoris.

And that by moving from left to right, the partner must use his penis to cause as much pleasure as possible.

If the woman is in pain, you must wait for her vagina to become lubricated. Otherwise you will need to “soften” her with saliva.

It seems that a woman can only have an orgasm after a few minutes.

Short and long penetrations, and the request for vaginal entry, can only lead to orgasm. And only if the main erogenous zones of the vagina are touched.

The woman can, of course, guide her partner if he is tired. It is an advantage not to neglect that she can lead her partner and participate in her own orgasm.

Kunyaza can be practiced in different positions – either lying, sitting or standing.

Dr. Bizimana is the author of a book about Kunyaza (African Eroticism) and tries to introduce this technique to those in Europe.

According to him, Africa is the only country that has a solution for female orgasm. It is another technique with which a woman can get to orgasm very quickly and which does not require proper sexual intercourse. According to French Kiss, Kunyaza is a technique for experiencing eroticism. The purpose of the Kunyaza technique is to bring the woman to orgasm by stimulating her erogenous zones. And that’s because a study has shown that not all women achieve orgasm during sex.

Kunyaza is therefore the solution to their problems.

This act can also serve as a prelude to sexual intercourse, and caress and arouse the woman’s clitoris with the help of the penis.

What techniques do we use – let’s look at more details!

Kunyaza was published by Dr. Nsekuye Bizimana as a sure way to achieve a female orgasm, often in the form of a female ejaculation also called squirting. It includes a non-penetrative phase and a progressive penetration phase:

1. External stimulation: is the simplest practice of Kunyaza.

The partner continuously rubs the clitoris with the glans of his erect penis, which he can hold with his hand or between his fingers, moving at the same speed from top to bottom, running along the entire length of the vulva (without penetrating).

Finally, you can also perform circular movements both clockwise and counterclockwise.

The clitoris, the main and secondary vaginal lips, can also be stimulated by zigzag movements. After a certain amount of arousal, the penis is removed.

2. Internal stimulation

After preliminary vaginal lubrication, the man enters the vagina normally with his penis, but without fully introducing it.

Thus, the penis is also lubricated enough to return to the previous practice. The penis between the fingers performs an external stimulation.

The man penetrates, whereby superficial penetrations (gucuga) are alternated into the vaginal opening with deep traction (gucumite). While maintaining abundant circular movements, and concentrating during penetrating on the direct stimulation of the walls of the vaginal canal, which often facilitates movement by holding the penis between the fingers and significantly increasing the speed.

In both internal and external stimulation, the rhythm and strength of the movements are slow and sensitive, and change according to the progressive increase in arousal and lubrication of the affected areas.

However, other researchers point out that the version introduced by Dr. Bizimana differs from the traditional Kunyaza (male technique) by completely todging the Gukuna (female technique) lip extension technique, which is an essential part of Kunyaza.

Liquids and secretions

During the Kunyaza, the woman generally produces and emits a large amount of fluid,  which also lubricates the man’s penis.

In Rwanda urine is used for inkari. While the liquid secreted during Kunyaza is Amavangigo or Ibinyare.

While the former is described as a yellow liquid, the discharge emitted in the Kunyaza, is described as: clear or slightly whitish discharge.

Consistency and smell also differ: while the urine is always watery and has a strong ammonia smell, amavangigo can be thicker, slightly sticky and generally odourless.

Orgasmic rivers

If you’re wondering how effective this technique is, researcher SylviaTamale claims that a sexuality teacher in Uganda provided the following definition for Kunyaza:

I also didn’t know anything about female ejaculation until I met my current partner. When the man knows what he is doing, you will spill rivers and experience several orgasms at the same time.

A well-known sex guru in Africa says that this technique is important when you use it.

You have to prepare the woman first and can penetrate her a little, 5-10 times before you start. Then you can perform movements from top to bottom or even from left to right. At some point, she will tell you to get into it. But don’t do it! At some point you hear a sound like a slap. You have to keep going until it’s empty. Don’t be afraid.

What is happening today?

In an interview with the newspaper El Pais, Olivier Jourdain, director of the documentary Sacred Water, explained:

“Kunyaza is a tradition that is passed on almost secretly in closed circles. Where modernity, Catholicism and genocide have had a bad impact on this practice, which is more common in the rural world than in the big cities, it must also be borne in mind that the male attitude is not 100% altruistic.

Although you feel like a man when you know how to make Kunyaza. A real man must be able to “let the water flow”, so it is not necessary to idealize the Rwandans and their sexual performance. In one way or another, female pleasure always comes first.”

In female homosexual relationships, this sexual technique can be practiced by replacing the glans with fingers. Alternatively another stimulating object can be used.

Kunyaza pop culture

Sacred Water – is a documentary film directed by Olivier Jourdain.

This delves into these secret voices of traditional Rwandan culture and practice called Kunyaza, which older men know and pass on to new generations.

The title of the documentary “Holy Water”  literally refers to the outflow from the vagina that a woman ejects when she reaches the climax of the orgasm, which is considered a myth by many women.

In the documentary, you can see How Rwandans talk naturally about female anatomy, and ways to get women to ejaculate.

[Reading tip: If the woman ejaculates, you can naturally take the secretion into the mouth and drink it. The same applies to swallowing sperm.]

It’s all completely different from a typical conversation about sex between men, who care more about their own pleasure.

In Rwanda, female orgasm is a matter of honour for men. Older men and adolescents talk about the “flowing water” technique known as Kunyaza. The Jourdain documentary is based on interviews with people on the street, in houses, hairdressers and public baths.

So we have seen what Kunyaza means, where it comes from, and how widespread it is. We have seen how it should be practiced, and in particular the extraordinary impact this sexual practice has on women.

What people say…

Here are some opinions of real people who have already experienced this technique:

Marie-Josee

“When I got married and my husband did it for the first time, it was a revelation.” He was very good at it until the day he died. If he’s really good, it’s going to look like someone’s showered. But if it doesn’t happen, the woman could be looking for another man. I had friends who did this when their husband didn’t give them water.”

Felix

“I enjoy it so much when she releases the energy she releases. It’s magical. I feel like a lion or a king. I’m proud to be in the clouds. I made that possible. Women expect it. Sometimes they ask you about it. You say, please, do it for me. They like it.”

Gogo

“If a man cannot do this, it is the woman’s job to teach him. But if a woman can’t do that, she’s dry, which is a problem.

Simba

“We had sex and she taught me how to do it. She grabbed my penis and the water came. I was really impressed by this woman.”

In summary, this unique technique should be experienced by all couples on their way to the pursuit of absolute pleasure! If not out of conviction, then at least out of curiosity!!
