How to keep your ‘best buddy’ functioning at his best

Published 10/04/2014

Mr Floppy – everybody’s best pal in the bedroom. Not. An occasional visit is to be expected and most men will experience erectile dysfunction at least once in their lives, but persistent or frequent bouts of floppiness could mean there’s a more serious issue that needs addressing.

Here are some top tips for keeping your ‘best buddy’ functioning as he should.
Tip number one – if you’re a smoker, seriously consider quitting. Smoking is known to cause impotence and can even have an effect on the size of your hard on. And there’s more: it damages blood vessels and may even cause damage to the shaft tissue itself. So your best bet is to stub it out. Your cigarette that is.

Are you playing away from home? Is Mr Floppy visiting more than usual? Well it’s not uncommon to start experiencing issues in the bedroom when you’re having an affair. It’s the guilt don’t you know. Guilt then turns to anxiety and before you know it your penis is a jibbering wreck in case the missus decides to do a Bobbit on you. Best to end the affair or make the decision to leave your current lady.

Moving on. What size trousers are you taking these days? If the inches have crept on and you haven’t done anything to shed the extra pounds then you could be at risk of diabetes, and this, my friends is a major cause of impotence. Not only that, it also slows the transmission of stimuli through the nerves in your body, which can lead to a numb penis. Bad news all round.

It’s pretty much hard wired into every man to do everything in his power to protect his crown jewels; well the same goes for the penis. Take care of it. Thrust too hard against your partner’s pubic bone and you could end up with ruptured corposa cavernosa which are the ‘erectile chambers’ that run through your shaft. Yes that is as painful as it sounds and yes it can lead to ED – unsurprisingly. If you do serious damage and completely rupture the corposa nervosa you’ll need surgery – and fast – to reduce the risk of permanent damage. In other words you and Mr Floppy will be hanging out, playing cards, drinking beers and getting to know each other very well indeed. So be careful, especially when your lady is on top which is the position that causes the most cases of penile trauma.

And lastly but by no means not leastly, if you don’t already get regular exercise then start trying to fit some into your schedule. Walk two miles a day, run for twenty minutes or do 30 minutes of weight training. The fitter you are the less likely you are to experience erectile dysfunction. Exercise helps to prevent arterial clogging which can cause your hard on to wilt like a dehydrated flower. The more you exercise you get, the healthier your penile blood vessels will be. And that means harder, longer erections and no more visits from Mr F.

Have a healthy penis!
