Interviews were conducted through a self-administered online questionnaire from 3 to 12 November 2015.

Due to the intimate nature of the topic in question, IFOP chose a self-administered online method that is less intrusive, allowing respondents to talk of themselves without feeling at risk of being judged by an interviewer.

The absence of an interviewer in fact reduces the tendency that individuals might have of wanting to show themselves in a better light and for instance understating certain behaviours that are seen as transgressive or deemed unsuitable by dominating moral views. This method gives those who might not want to talk about sensitive topics in front of an interviewer or in the presence of someone they know (if the interview takes place before a third party) the chance to speak freely.
