Just WHO is Jerking Off Anyway?

Jerking off has always been cloaked in secrecy and shame. Great thing about Cam4 and the internet is that those days are over….or at least internet porn makes jerking off a lot easier and fun.

The fact that so many people are too embarrassed to confess that they do take part in this natural function frequently has probably skewed the results of sexual studies for the last century.

Masturbation is a topic that is wildly debated among moralists, sex researchers and doctors, but surprisingly there has not been many books written about it. Since the 1960s, only around thirty books have been published which is quite incredible when you consider the amount of porn that has been manufactured to inspire the act.

Jerking Off

All that we have is a large collection of studies by renowned sex researchers, many of them outdated. From this we can garner the following facts about who is masturbating and how often.

Alfred Kinsey interviewed thousands of men in the 1940’s, and concluded that 95 percent masturbated. In 1960’s, William Masters and Virginia Johnson raised that figure to 99 percent. Kinsey’s data indicated that 92% of males reported having masturbated, as opposed to 62% of females. However these reports also noted that many people might not be telling the truth about how often they masturbate out of shyness or shame.

Kinsey noted “Masturbation was the most important sexual outlet for single females and the second most important sexual outlet for married females, providing 7-10% of orgasms for those 16-40.” Kinsey also noted “In males, masturbation after marriage occurred with reduced frequency.”

A 2004 survey by Toronto magazine NOW indicated that an overwhelming majority of the males – 81% – began masturbating between the ages of 10 and 15. Among females, the s figure was a more modest 55%.

With regards to the frequency of masturbation. The Janus Report on Sexual Behavior by Samuel S. Janus and Cynthia L. Janus (1993) was based on a large-scale, nationwide survey of adult Americans. The individuals were ages 18 and up and the study was conducted between 1983 and 1992. Ten percent of women reported masturbating frequently (several times weekly or daily) versus. 25 percent of men. Similarly, 38 percent of women reported masturbating on a regular basis (monthly to daily) in comparison to 55 percent of men. This is probably the most recent medical study done on masturbatory habits of both sexes. However the fact that internet porn is so huge does tell us a thing a two about how widespread and NECESSARY masturbation really is!!
