Friends, Favorites, & Screencaps Not Showing
You may have noticed a problem with your friends missing, your favorites or the screen caps of the shows in member’s profiles.
Cam4 had problems with the friends & favorites database and the content management system that holds all the images on Cam4.
The friends and favorites database is being regenerated. You may see some but not all of your friends and favorites while this processes is happening. This process may take all day and into tomorrow to complete due to the large size of the database.
Screen caps from the cams older than 60 days are being removed to free up space and allow things to run faster. The cleanup script has gotten far enough that most images should be able to be seen. Some older thumbnail images will still have problems for the next day or two while the process completes.

OK, I saw you were working on “friends and favorites” not showing up in members profiles but that was months ago, Its the end of August 2011 now and I cannot see my friends & favorites. I asked others in chat rooms and they can see theirs. When will I see mine ?

I think it’s a different problem then in Aug but the same effect. The programmers know about the problem and it should be fixed shortly.
Yea Still not working. Kinda sucks too. Been almost a week now. The only notifications I get in the blue bar, is when someone tips the broadcaster. I have all my Favorites listed in my profile, but I receive no notifications when they broadcast.

My Favorites havent been working since last weekend. The blue screen no longer notifies me when my Friends or Favorites come online. Which sucks cause I have a lot of both. This has been going on for about five days now. Any word on when you guys are gonna fix this? Or is this permanent?

I have a user that approved me as a friend already, but I only see them in the favorite section, which is a mistake. Is there anyway that can be fixed?
Side note: Twice in the past month, I’ve found cams where I caught guys injecting meth and this issue needs to be addressed. I reported it already and I’m hoping this will be dealt with seriously, because it is making Cam4 look really bad. I really wish you guys had some live moderators on the site in each section checking the individual cams to make sure no one was out of line breaking any rules. If you guys approved that kind of idea for the site, I would love to be part of it and be one of those “live” moderators. I see a lot of bad stuff that needs to be addressed, and I know you can’t get to everything. Not only that, but a lot of people are not reporting some of the bad stuff that is going on, which makes it tough.

Try to unfriend/unfavorite the person and then add them again and see if that solves the problem.
We do have live moderators. People are removed if they do not know what they are doing. It’s difficult to know what people are smoking, drinking or injecting. It could be tabacco, orange juice or insulin. So we won’t usually ban someone for that. If they are incoherent and not understanding what is going on, we will remove them.
Hmm though it seems like favourites are not yet working normally. I had about 5 favourites and only 2 of them used to be showing.. It’s like I added people, but they are never added, I can’t remove them either, so they are like ghosts in my favourite, but never shown.. Wonder if there is any way to fix that ? And interesting how to avoid it..

I don’t see your profile banned but you use a lot of IPs in the philipines and there are a lot of bans there for asking for paypal. So maynbe that is the problem. Email kim@cam4.biz and maybe she can help you.
Are we limited to 4 emails per day? My third reply posted twice and now it says I’ve exceeded my daily limit. I appreciate that you have to put a limit on email but if it is 4 that is easy to run through especially after a broadcast when you get lots of mail.
Also with email… a lot more replies are vanishing lately. It used to happen on occasion but sometimes I will be on my 5th or 6th attempt to successfully send a single reply.
If you don’t know about this bug, when you hit send and the screen goes to the cams page instead of back to your inbox, you know you’ve lost that email into the great cam4 black hole.
Am also wondering if Cam4 will be at the Taboo Sex Shows in the west.

Non-gold members are limited to 10 emails per day. The programmers have been informed of the other problems that you are having.
We have info and are considering the Taboo shows on the west coast of Canada. They sounds like fun and we heard good things about them.
Why can’t I comment on one cammer’s (willfromaz) wall? Whenever I try it says that I can only comment once per day, including the first time that I tried doing it, and has never posted anything. I have been trying for 3 days now and always get the same result.

That seems like a bug. There is an open ticket for the programmers to fix it.
Is there a way for one to see who has favourited them?

There isn’t a way that I know of, but that would be nice to know. I’ll see if we can make that an option.

It has nothing to do with xxx. If they xxxxxx, it will let them back in as though they were never banned. As soon as xxx, the ban takes hold and they can no longer get in.
If you want to test it out yourselves, try having one of your admins xxx.

I sent that to the techs to test and fix.
That may be the way it is intended to work, but that is not how it actually does work. Unless it’s been fixed in the last two days.
Admin, there are bans that just don’t work sometimes. The troll manages to keep coming back over and over. Julie is saying theyare able to get back in. It’s not a kick vs ban issue.

friends and favorites should be back for everyone. If not, email kim@cam4.biz and try to provide details of who is missing if possible.
In addition to the PVT problem, there is also a bug in the banning system. If someone gets banned they can come right back by refreshing the page, as long as they don’t go to any other page first.

If you kick someone, they can come back. If you ban them, then that IP is banned from watching your cam.
Dunno if you can know the answer to this or not…
If we added friends again will it simply be replaced when the list is regenerated?
Haven’t added anyone I didn’t have before anyway.

I believe when the database is regenerate, you will have the same friends and favorites that you had before.
I logged on yesterday to find that my entire Friend’s list has been deleted. From the ones that I can remember being on the Friend’s list, it seems that they have all been moved over to the Favorites list. What’s going on… and will the Friend’s list ever be restored?

The friends and favorites database is being rebuilt. Until it’s completed, you may see some of your friends or favorites but not all of them. Once the rebuild is completed all of your friends and favorites will be there. We have not killed or lost any of your friends.
It’s been happening for months now… not sure if that info is of any use to you.

When watching a cam I can accept friend requests no problem. Until someone tries to PM me. Then the envelope still flashes but it does not respond. Friend requests or further PMs do not come through for as long as that cam is open.

The programmers are looking into that problem as well. It may be related to the friend’s issue.
