Friends and Favorites
You are now able to delete your friends and favorites. To do this go to Profile [Edit] and choose the tab Friends and Favorites. They will all be listed here. You can choose which ones and delete them.
To add friends, click on their name in chat and choose Add “username” as friend.
When people in your friends or favorites list come online, a blue banner will appear at the top of the screen, telling you they are online. When you are watching a cam, if you click on the User tab beside chat, it will list favorites, friends, and people in the chat. Clicking favorites or friends will show all of your favorites and which ones are online.

Just wanted too inform you that the friend and favorite fuction is not working the way it should and it seems on my profile can’t view or see my favorites or friends still after logging in seems the add is gone though still can’t view favorites or friends
did noticed a remove these ads logo on the right hand side of the page not sure if thats the problem. Its just annoying that this features or not working could you please give me any update PS i have not changed anything too my profile :)

For some reason over this past week when I attempt to add a friend or favorite I am unable. I click on the “add friend” or “add favorite” on someones page or in chat and it does nothing. Is there a technical problem or am I doing something wrong. It has always worked in the past. Thank You.

I know that this has not been discussed for a while, but I saw that on this thread the issue of video caps being posted on external sites was brought up. Has anyone shed light on https://www.xxxxx.xxxx? There are a LOT of cam4 rips on there.

Some performers upload videos of their performances to websites for promotion. Some times illegal vid caps are made and posted by others. If performers find vid caps of themselves they can ask the website to have it removed or they can contact Cam4 and we will contact the website for them to have it removed.

To whom it my concern the new ad that is at the bottom of the page before the cam4 info on different info and support needs too be removed it is interfering with friends and favorites not showing up on peoples profile including mine and the remove ads also needs to be removed there are scattered all over the page from the top to the side and bottom of the page and cuts the cam window in half when viewing someones cam I understand the site needs to advertise put these is interfering with your site and how it should run smooth have informed kim and has passed the info along with a screen shoot

Hello my name is melissa and i had a account with you guys but was deleted today.I been having webcam trouble on your site for two weeks.Everytime i try to broadcast it keeps coming up black but on my computer i see me not black.My webcam is logitech 1080 hd webcam brand new.So today i decided to go to bestbuy and get a new camera and the sales guy told this will work for all site.So tried it and the samething again is coming up black screen.All of sudden my account was deleted! So can you please help!! what should i do next cause i enjoy your site very mush.

Thanks for the improvements to Friends & Favorites.
Under my profile page, the “Favorites” panel has a “Show All” button. However clicking a “Show All” only brings up the first 200 Favorites. :-(
Can this be expanded so I can retrieve a list of ALL of my favorites?

I have also lost all my friends on my list and some have been aded to my favorites
i aded 2 new friends last night and they was put there but there is still none of the old ones back…. Is this problem with the servers going to be fixed ?
or have we lost them all forgood and have to-re add them again ???

The friends and favorites database is being rebuilt and all your friends and favorites will be back. It may be tomorrow or the next day when it is completed.

Update Jan 6/2010 – the update is going very slow with the friends/favorites database and is only about 60% complete. It could take until tomorrow to complete.
Thank you for the prompt answer, admin. I hadn’t been able to find out if anyone else had the same issue when I asked the question but I did find out later that others had the same problem. Thanks again for your quick response. :)
I don’t know if this is the right place to put this, but it appears that as of today, Jan. 4 2011 I have lost my entire friends list both in the menu and my “manage” link in my profile and my fave list has added three people who were once in that list but were long ago added to friends. I had 125 people on my friend list and would like to know if this is just a temporary glitch for everyone or is it just me, and will I have to start over?

there is a problems with the friends database. It is being rebuilt and should be ok tomorrow.
I know that Friends are different from Favorites in that you have to accept Friends.
But how are they different once someone accepts? Does being a Friend give any additional advantages over being a Favorite?

There is a private room settings that only allow friends to enter. There are chat and mail filters to deny all except friends. That’s all I can think of.
deleting some friends didn’t seem to help, for no reason it fixed itself today
Recently when viewing a cam or broadcasting, my friends list wont show. The “+friends” heading appears but it won’t list them when I branch it out
also the option “add as friend” shows up for every user
maybe I’ve added too many? Had around 4K last time I checked

Having +4000 friends is probably causing the problem and overloading the your cam viewer. You should delete a lot of them.
Thanks for this feature. I have definitely suggested it before, maybe twice, in the help section. hehe. I’m glad it’s finally in place. :)
Is there a better way to manage friend invites than through that little envelope at the top of a cam broadcast? The pop-up list tends not to load properly after a few accept/ignores. I’ve been closing and reopening that screen in order to view all requests, but uh….that’s taking too long.
Exm, That is the only way to approve requests. It’s definitely something we need to work on. There is a friends tab in the profile edit that you can see them and delete them.
Blocked from chat for “offensive or inappropriate usage” to be precise. WTF? I honestly haven’t got a clue why.
The same thing happened to me. I was banned from a room and then blocked from both chat and comments for no apparent reason.
Literally, all I wrote to some guy was, “You’re not really six feet six inches tall, surely?” because that’s what was on his profile. I guess it could have come off a bit rude, like I was mocking him, but I was just impressed. Anyway, immediately I get a box coming up saying I’m banned from his room.
Then the next room I go into, I can’t even type, because I get a message saying I’ve been blocked from chat. Now I can’t chat or leave comments. (Been that way at least a couple days.)
Bizarre, because I hardly ever leave chats, and when I do, I’m very polite. I don’t even consider it nice to bark orders like some people do (Show your cock! Stand up etc), so the most I usually type is a compliment.
So I’ve really no idea why I was blocked.
Fox, we have no idea either. We give the broadcasters the option to ban people and we don’t ask them why they do.

Your chat has been disabled due to inappropriate or offensive site usage. How long will this be i enjoy the website and try to help when i can for the website owners or admin have not been inappropriate or offensive unless cam4 considers the emails i sent regarding cam lag and chat inappropriate I am only trying to make the site better with the few problems i do came across my apologizes to cam4 for the emails

Lee, This is an automated system. The people in the chat rooms have reported you a number of times and have had your chat automatically disabled. If you keep using the site, eventually your chat privileges will be restored. Probably in a few days. This only has to do with chatting in live cams. It has nothing to do with sending emails to support.

That is not a problem of keyboards layout.
I did some tests using different browsers. Seems an issue surfacing
using any browser with Webkit engine (eg. Google Chrome, Safari, etc..). Everything does work as expected using browsers with Trident engine (eg. Internet Explorer and others).

Admin I can only delete people from my favorites list when they are online, but the ones that have not been coming on for ages, can not be deleted clogging up my list. Is this a glitch or a intended function?
D you can go to Profile [Edit] and there is a tab for Friends & Favorites. You can any of them here, even if they are offline.
Several people I chat with are experiencing the same. It all started when the “hd” player was introduced. The previous versions worked fine.
Can you let me know more about your setup. I’ve tested it here and it works. What OS, browsers type, versions are you using?
Please, ask the programmers to fix the player so it works with spanish keyboards. Accents and symbols are not displayed correctly. For example, when you type a question mark, quotation marks are written instead.

The adding friends through profiles feature should have an acception feature.
The favorites doesn’t have to.

plon, that is just the way it was setup. We will look into adding a feature to allow you to do that from people’s profiles. It’s a good idea.

Great new fetcher being able to delete friends and favourites, but i think i my have go a little carried away by deleting everybody :-))

This may seem like a rather obvious request, but it would be convenient if the pictures or usernames displayed on the editFriendsAndFavorites.jsp page had actual working links to those members’ profiles.

Tom not sure what the exact problem is or why they are different. Programmers need to look at the code and figure it out.
Seems there is a bit of confusion between the favorites/friends list that does show up in the room(s), and the favorites/friends list that is shown on the user profile. The first one is working fine, as far i can see.
But if someone tries to add me as friend, and i REJECT the request, my avatar is shown on his wall as well, in his friend list. In my opinion this should be fixed, as only the ACCEPTED requests should be processed.
The rejected ones shouldn’t take any effect at all.

Does seem like 185 of my Friends and 15 of my Favorites removed me from their lists that quickly.
Then the ratio is coincidentally very close to equal.
Tom, The programmers are checking the code and think that 1. The friends list in the player shows only accepted friends while the one in the profile also shows friends that have not been accepted. 2. The favorites list in the player removes does not included favorites who are also friends. It just shows them as friends. While in the profile, they are included in friends and favorites list. They will change this so both lists are the same.
I’ll report it right here so that everyone is warned. MOESpeaking and all of his accounts where he adds numbers to the end of his name. In all of his Cam4 profiles he threatens “BAN OR KICK = I OWN YOU.”
Shit like that ruins things for everyone. The long-time viewers and ‘casters get fed up.
We have deleted hundreds of MoeSpeak accounts as well as other aliases that he sets up.
What I noticed long ago with friends and faves was that if I had someone on my fave list and they then became a friend, they disappeared from the faves list in the drop down menu that appears in rooms, but they appear in both if I show them on my profile or when I access the new friend/faves tab. And I have the same issue as Tom when it comes to the difference between what shows on my profile and what shows in the drop down list–people who have apparently removed me from their friends list no longer show on the drop down when in a room, but they continue to show on my profile if I choose to display friends. Members who had their profiles deleted by cam4 were still showing in my lists as well until I removed them myself when the ability to remove offline members became available.
Verica, you may have helped figure out what the problem is. I think there is some odd logic in the code that says if people are you friend, they are also your favorite or something like that. Could be the reason why the numbers are different. Will check into this to see what’s up.
I have 649 friends and 52 favorites listed on my Friends and Favorites page.
The userlist in the player says I have 464 friends and 37 favorites.
I happen to have 18 that are both on my friends and favorites.
The percentages I provided indicate that the ratio is about equal between the two.
When I went to edit my friends/faves I had a bunch of people as friends that didn’t show up in the chat list as such. They did show up as faves in chat, though. So, maybe it was a glitch.
Admin, about the recording, you have to be pretty aware of who some of the people are. They don’t bother to change their Cam4 names when they post the caps up on anonib. Make some sort of effort to keep them off the site, please. It really is chasing the ‘casters off, seems the guys as well as the girls. Now with summer break all the anon/chan kiddies are going to be able to troll and cap all night long. It’s gonna be hell and a lot of people are going to leave.
But, thanks for getting the fave/friends delete thing going. I had a ton of faves that aren’t on here anymore. Many who left because they were recorded. So, it is kinda on topic.
Cam4 member – when we can figure it out, we delete the cappers account. But we have to be careful. If they use your account name to post caps to anonib, you don’t want us to delete you account. You can help by reporting cappers to customer support. If we can prove it’s them, we delete them.
The number of Friends and Favorites don’t correlate correctly.
I currently have 649 friends and 52 favorites listed; though when I’m in rooms it indicates I currently have 464 friends and 37 favorites. I got 18 in both.
52 / 649 = 8.01% | | 37/464 = 7.97%
37/52 = 71.15% | | 464/649 = 71.49%
Also, why aren’t they listed completely alphabetically. I have two alphabetical lists under both.
Tom, Not sure what you mean. You have 649 friends/52 favorites listed where? When you are in a room it indicates 464/37 in what the user list in the player? You got 18 what in both what?

You guys have been doing your best to update and offer features to us slags that do not pay. Kudos! I was just wondering why it is that when I favorite someone they are also included in my friends list? I thought the friends list was a two way street as in they actually have to accept your invitation? Thanks anyway for helping me to waste plenty of bandwidth and for drawing beauty to the flame!
Un_couth, I just tried that out. I made a broadcaster a favorite and they were added to be favorites list. They did not get added to my friends list. You are correct that friends have to accept your friend request to be a friend. Anyone else notice the same thing happening to you?

If there weren’t fucking assholes out there recording the shows and putting them everywhere on the Internet I think a lot of people wouldn’t be as hesitant to bare it all. Unfortunately, a handful of assholes insist on ruining the fun for everyone.
Unfortunate but true. Anyone that see videos of themselves on other websites can contact these websites directly to have the videos removed. These are copyright violations and in most cases the “tube” sites will remove them once you have made a complaint. It’s more difficult if the site is a small site which is setup specifically to host pirate videos. Cam4 contacts sites as well asking to have all cam4 content removed because of copyright violation. We have threatened legal action in some cases and so far haven’t had to proceed. Looks like we have to contact wordpress.com
Blogger, Mens of Cam4 no longer exists. Content on larger tube sites, WordPress, and other hosted content sites are usually pretty easy to deal with and get copyright content removed quickly. You need to submit a DMCA Digital Millennium Copyright Act notice. WordPress shows you how to do it in this article “How to deal with content theft”. If you see images of yourself that have been capped and posted, you can contact the site yourself and submit to get it removed. Cheers
