Sex toys for partner play – double the fun!

Sex toys – no self-respecting singleton should be without one or three in the bedside drawer. They’re always there when you need them, don’t give you grief about how much time you spend together, and, for the most part, have no annoying habits. So what happens when you find yourself in a real relationship with a real live human person? Does this mean the sex toys have to be put out to pasture? Well it kind of depends on the real live human person you’re dating. Some guys will wonder why you need one while others are totally on for a bit of fun with your battery operated buddy. If you’re not quite sure how your partner feels about them, here are some ‘sensitive’ ways to introduce them in the bedroom.

As with everything in relationships, honesty is always the best policy. So bring it up openly in conversation. Girls, ask your guy if he’s ever used a vibrator with a partner before and if not would he like to try one out. There are hundreds of really great little vibrators on the market that are perfect for partner play and small enough not to get in the way or make things awkward.

Now comes the fun part – go shopping for one together. If you don’t feel comfortable browsing in your local sex shop then do some exploring online. Love Honey  has a brilliant selection and offers next day delivery on most items.

If either one of you has never used a sex toy before then you may, understandably, feel a little weird about it and wonder what the hell to do with it. The thing to remember is, when it’s used in partner play it’s not intended to be a replacement for any part of your partner’s body – it’s supposed to add to the pleasure. For example, girl on top, girl uses vibrator on clit; this leaves guy with both hands free to have lots of fun with nipples, sending girl into sensory heaven and leaving guy feeling pretty pleased with himself. This is just one example of how you can bring a sex toy into play – there are loads of other things you can do, and it’s all about exploring what you feel comfortable with.

One thing to bear in mind, however, is that using sex toys back and forth on each other is pretty much like having unprotected sex in terms of the risk of infection. So if you’re not in a monogamous relationship and you’re still using condoms every time you have sex then treat the sex toys with the same respect. Stick to using it on one person only, or give it a good clean with a disinfectant wipe before you swap over. It may not seem all that sexy, but where your sexual health is concerned, sexy is safe!
