Let’s talk condoms

Published 27/10/2020

In this blog we’re gonna talk about types of condoms, and have we got some interesting facts for you!  Firstly (and very importantly) they come in all shapes and sizes, colours, flavours and textures, in fact pretty much anything you can think of.

Condoms are often seen as a necessary evil, but they are essential for safe sex.   But don’t forget, you can make them a fun part of sex too – try out a different one each time and explore the differences together.

Sizes of condoms

To know the right size for you, you are gonna have to measure (and no cheating now)!  The condom size is determined by the nominal width, which is the width of the condom when it is lying flat.  By the way, did you know that a suitable condom width is more important than the length of the condom!  That’s why the circumference of the penis has to be measured, but make sure it’s stiff of course!

Measurement Condom
  10 cm 47 mm
 10-11 cm 49 mm
 11-11,5 cm 53 mm
 11,5-12 57 mm
 12-13 60 mm
 13-14 64 mm

The average penis is between 52mm and 56mm, but sizes often start at 47mm up to about 69mm.  A small size certainly doesn’t mean a small penis, equally a large size doesn’t mean a big penis, just a thicker one!

Types of condoms

Types of condoms

Thin condoms

Most people (both men & women) complain that the feeling is reduced when wearing a condom.  To experience more feeling during sex, you can buy special thin (or even extra-thin) condoms.  For example, Durex has either ‘Feel Thin’ or ‘Invisible’ their newest and thinnest ever to give the best possible feeling!

Tasty condoms

Not everyone likes the taste of a penis (unless you’re gay of course), or you may want to enjoy a safer blowjob and make it fun too.  To help with this you can buy condoms that come in all kinds of flavours, including Pina Colada, Banana, Chocolate, Apple, and many many more.

Delaying condoms

Sometimes you just want it to take that little bit longer, you’re having a good time and you’re not quite ready to orgasm yet.  Durex has launched the Performa condoms onto the market which delays the orgasm by means of a special gel on the inside of the condom.

Female pleasure condoms

Ribs, nubs, special gels, and colours!  These have a texture that allows women to experience more pleasure than they would with a standard smooth condom.  Such extra stimulation can be found with ‘Orgasm Intens’ condoms.  In addition to the ribs and nubs, these also contain a special gel that tingles or even feels hot/cold, thus adding to the intense sensation!

Latex-free condoms

It’s very annoying if you have a latex allergy, but fortunately there is a great alternative nowadays.  Latex-free condoms such as the ‘Real Feeling’ of durex are made of a soft replacement that doesn’t affect the feeling!

These are our handy facts, to help you the next time you need to buy condoms!  Now, below we have provided some essential help for using them.

Instructions for condoms

1. Carefully take the condom out of its packaging and be careful with sharp nails/objects.

2. Check whether you can unroll the condom, carefully squeeze the top and place the condom on the cap of the hard penis.

3. Roll out the condom as far as possible down the shaft and check that it is inserted correctly.

4. After ejaculation, the condom must be removed quickly and can be disposed of in the rubbish bin. (Do not flush a condom, this can cause blockages).

5. Only ever use a condom once!
