Cam Life: An Introduction to Webcam Culture\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>delves into the untold history of cam and web chat, and the potential for internet broadcasting to blur the lines between public and private life and ultimately create a more democratic space for sexual expression. Considering the rise of virtual intimacy and the proliferation of erotica in numerous forms since the introduction of the World Wide Web, this exhibition investigates the complex evolution of sexual desire in the age of the Internet.<\/p>\n

Cam Life<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0pulls together exclusive interviews and content from Internet pioneers\u00a0Joshua Harris<\/strong>,\u00a0Tanya Corrin<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Zac Adams<\/strong>, original commissioned works by contemporary artists who integrate\u00a0the world of online camming and pornography into their practice\u00a0(Lindsay Dye<\/strong>,\u00a0Mickey Mod<\/strong>,\u00a0Vex Ashley<\/strong>,\u00a0shawn\u00e9 michaelain holloway<\/strong>,\u00a0Mood Killer<\/strong>,\u00a0Leah Schrager<\/strong>),\u00a0Sean Dunne\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0documentary\u00a0Cam Girlz<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and an extensive collection of artifacts\u00a0chronicling the expansion of sexual expression on the internet\u00a0from early text-based chat rooms to\u00a0high-definition explicit one-on-one intimacy.\u00a0The show also introduces the booming professional cam studio industry in the developing nations of Romania and Colombia with photographs by\u00a0Lorenzo Maccotta<\/strong>\u00a0and philosophy from Latin American cam studio manager\u00a0Camilo Ram\u00edrez<\/strong>, as well as dynamic interactive installations\u2014including an audience participation\u00a0cam stage.<\/p>\n
