Cam4 tipping now optional
Some performers have requested the ability to turn off tipping when they are performing as they do not want to accept tokens from others. Cam4 has now added this feature. To turn the tipping widget off/on, go to Profile [Manage], Options Tab and check the box at the bottom that says “Enable Tipping”.
The cam4 programmers have also been busy fixing bugs and are working on other features that have been requested like the ability to use the tokens you earned to tip other performers. More features will be implemented soon.

I would think any bank would cash the check. I wouldn’t recommend getting a US$ check sent outside the US unless you have a US dollar bank account and your bank is ok with it.
I would recommend that you get a payoneer card. It takes them a week to approve you and about a week to get a Payoneer Mastercard which will allow you to withdraw money at most bank machines. There is girls blatantly advertising their paypal services on this site as i type.I have reported it and an admin even came to the room,chatted with them and they are still doing it.Is it no longer against the rules to tout paypal?just wondering
Tennisking, it is against the rules to ask for paypal. People are warned to only ask for tokens. If they continue they are banned. The blog is not a place to report though as it’s not checked that often. Use the report abuse button if you have something to report. We will not be able to catch people otherwise.

Nobody is going to tip the performer if the performer performs an act before receiving the tip, this is why tips come first.
As I am going to say right now “When you order a pizza you pay for it first” Just as you would tip the performer first, then the performer delivers.
Private Shows on Cam4. I know I have suggested this many times, but it is very possible, even with a rating system.
Nightmare, broadcasters are allowed to do and say whatever they please on Cam4 in they’re own chat room as long as they are not accepting paypal, playing videos or underage. (from what I know) If someone pops in my room and starts getting hostile of course I am going to get angry and ban them, it is my chat room, I can yell at any member I want to.
Last but not least, it looks like I am going to discontinue doing private shows on cam4 and follow through with public shows for tips and put my risk of being recorded up to the highest. A gold membership gives me the ability to do private shows on Cam4, but it hasn’t been that beneficial to me. I am not the only one though, I have seen several other performers doing private shows the right way and the only way possible on this site (in private mode) and are still being pressured into doing public. A button for private shows should be included in the tipping panel to to put a final end to this private mode, Skype, MSN madness. I am hoping sometime in the next 6 months this system is implemented before I start to lose interest to perform. I can see myself performing more often and long term when it is.

I tried to give this whole tipping thing a fair shake. I’ve kept an open mind. But I have seen a large amount of problems that have not been taken care of. Here is a summary of what I have seen.
Scamming. Scamming has gotten out of hand. I have seen multiple times that performers will post that they will do something and then not do it once they get the token goal. Then either a quick “accidental disconnection” or a complete arguement with the users in the room when called on their obvious lie. You tell us to report the scammers. I have and they are back the next day doing the exact same thing. Why not ban scammers? First time they scam, take the tokens. Second time, ban. Simple. And if someone comes back on after an “accidental disconnection”, then make sure that their goal is set to where it was when they left and with the tokens received back up. Or how about this, get rid of the goal setting.
Advertisers. There has been an explosion of girls advertising other sites or trying to get people to do a paypal show. I’ve reported, nothing happens.
Rudeness. I know that the world isn’t perfect and that the type of girls that come on cam4 has changed. I know most now are here for the cash. That said, I come here for fun. Listening to someone start degrading the users watching because they won’t tip them for just sitting there has gotten ridiculous. I really can’t see a way to fix this other than have cam4 moderators cruise through the rooms.

I really see only one way to ease some of the issues. Cam4 mods need to make more of a presence in the rooms. When a report abuse comes up, go to the room in question. Especially when there are multiple reports. I don’t feel inclined to purchace tokens when I feel that I will get scammed. And I really refuse to get a gold account now that there are all of these problems. I know you need to pay the bills. I just miss the old cam4.

I see that you have never purchased one token or made one tip. So you have never been scammed. If you made reports of being scammed then we would have ignored you since it’s impossible to have happened to you.
When we receive reports of scams from people who have tipped, we check them all out and if true, the tokens are refunded to all the people who tipped. The performers get a warning and if they continue scamming, they are banned.
The same is true of people requesting paypal. They are warned to only use the token system. If they continue to request paypal, their accounts are deleted.
People that spam chat with other websites and cam sites are deleted and banned.
There are a lot of rude people. Most of them are viewers not performers. If people are really abusive, we will ban them as well.
Regardless of what we call tipping, it’s optional. If you don’t want to tip, then don’t tip. Which you have chosen to do. If you don’t tip, then you can’t get scammed. If you don’t want a gold membership, then that’s cool as well. It’s a free site. Enjoy your time here.

Once again, guys, sorry this isn’t directly related to the original topic, but have you guys thought about giving Cam4 a forum, where everyone can post topics and give their opinions on different things? I think it would be cool to do this at some point. I find that I have a lot that I’d love to talk about, in terms of the site, performers, etc. and I’m sure others would too. Since it doesn’t seem like negative feedback is tolerated in the comment section of some people’s pages, a forum would be nice, for some of us to vent and get our feelings out about certain things. I understand a lot is going on with the Cam4 right now, but it would a great idea to implement a Cam4 forum in the very near future.
Jacobtyler69, we have thought about that. We have a Cam4 yahoo group, a Cam4 myspace page, numerous Cam4 facebook pages which have been shut down for nudity, a Cam4 twitter account, and the Cam4 blog in English, Spanish and Italian. We are looking at adding more options directly to the site where you can chat with admins and other users about the site. We have quite a bit to finish this month, so maybe early in the new year.
Some of us performers on the site actually do work hard unlike some others. For instance I was in a private show for 2 hours last night. (1000 Tokens/20 minutes X 6) The performance included masturbating, anal & shaving my whole body bare. In the tipper’s point of view it is like getting to direct your own porno. There is nothing wrong with that.
What we should get rid of:
1. Performers offering Paypal Shows on Skype/MSN/Yahoo (it’s still happening)
What should be implemented:
1. Sign up accounts for regular members and sign up accounts for performers.
2. Private shows on Cam4 (yes it is already possible, BUT, alot of performers are unaware that it is, and tippers are unaware that it exists. Most performers do not have a gold membership!)
3. Rating system (I know you guys are already looking into it)
I am not considering working on Livejasmin or Streamate, but I would like to keep working on this site considering the %50 payout, and as long as better features are implemented.

It would be great to know at a glance which viewers in my room have thier cams on when I am broadcasting. It is a pain to have to click on each viewer one by one to determine who is on cam. Can you add an indicator to the veiwer tab that indicates that a viewer is braodcasting?

How about you fix the “Report Abuse” issue, because no one obviously gives a shit about the people that report the cams! how can you expect to win “Best Live Chat Website” when so many of the cams are not even live! spammers play videos, you let obviously underage females broadcast for 30+mins, and as i write this a spammer https://www.cam4.com/derballastxx, has playing a video for 185 mins!!
Larry, Cam4 does care about people playing videos. They are deleted and banned like this person was. Underage people are also deleted and banned. And we are working on improving the abuse reporting function.
That is true, admin, but I still think it would slow them down. They make up a plethora of random numbered accounts and no sooner have you banned one that they pop in your room with another. This way they’d actually have to remember account names and passwords and when an account would be able to chat whereas now I believe they make them up disposable style and start spamming immediately.

In regards to spammers, it would seem they create an account and immediately start spamming. Would there be a way to prevent accessing chat for a day or maybe two after sign up?
A window would pop up that would say something about in an effort to reduce spamming your chat privileges would begin 24/48 hours after sign up.
36gg, we could prevent chatting for a couple days but this just delays the spammers from using those accounts. Once they wait a couple days, they could start to use those accounts.

I know this isn’t directly related to the subject, but I was wondering if maybe at some point, you guys could post a serious message about safe sex throughout the website. I know you have no control over what any of the broadcasters do, but I think it would help considering the fact that a lot of the guys I see on here do not use protection at all and its a bit disturbing to watch. I think it would be useful to warn everyone hear about the dangers of unsafe sex, especially the much younger members of Cam4. Much as I love this site, I definitely don’t wanna see anyone here, having their life turned upside down because of STDs and/or HIV/AIDS.

It’s hard to believe that anyone would think safe sex is not a good idea. If you think about it, most of the sex happening because of Cam4 is completely safe because it’s happening in a separate rooms where people are watching the cams by themselves. You can’t get safer than that. But the idea is a good one. Just need to figure out the best way to implement that.

I have 2 more questions/prepositions for you:
1. Is there any chance to put original smileys for non-paying user – EXAMPLE ~ when non-payed user type smiley, on chat appears this : – ) & when gold member type same smiley, on chat appears full colored smiley, and it looks like this :-).
In that way gold members have full visible smileys & non-payed user smileys are much less visible, but still its smiley.

2. Spamming guys are so annoying & sometimes I report them, but nothing happens to them. I know admins cant control all chat rooms but they can react on our reports for specific user at least.

Any idea on when the public rating/reputation system will be in effect on performers cams? I think it would be cool somewhere along the tipping panel. Tippers can rate the performer if they enjoyed the performance, and others can make the decision on whether or not to tip based on the public rating.
ashtontalon, there will not be a rating system launched this year. There are some changes planned in the next 6 weeks but mainly to the site navigation, bug fixes and billing and payment options. It would be something that we would look into next year.
I wonder why admin is talking about “fixed” the smiley issue. Theyve just added another reason for us to buy gold premium.
You guys never filtered for smileys, it simply wasnt in your source code, there was no bug (I guess you could talk of bugs, if you mean by bugs a feature which WASNT there before). So I really dont understand why you would talk of “it was a buggy feature”.

Btw its pretty lame to filter the “:” for all the non paying member. Seriously get decent coder and get rid of those hobby programer.
Why do you do that but you still fail at word filtering the spambots after all the years. I really get mad about stuff like this, either offer something of value or dont even try to charge money! I know that those spambots are cam4s way to earn some extra money. Because you even have those spambots on your BANNER + I know how easy it is to worldfilter every single of those bots, please dont tell me it’s too hard to do… Stop ripping off your customers and fans. And do something beside coming up with new ways of scamming.
Höraufzulügen, Cam4 is not happy about the spam in the chat. Cam4 makes no money and actually pays money for admins to ban spammers. We will soon be upgrading the chat performance and will then be able to make more robust spam filters operational.
Admin, a problem I’ve encountered for a few weeks now.
When watching another cam, if I get friend requests, I can add them no problem.
If I get a PM and open it, then any further action either PM’s or friend requests are not actionable for as long as I have the cam open.
Clicking on the flashing envelope no longer responds once that first PM is opened. This can be bothersome if I am trying to have a conversation in private and keep getting some random “wanna see me cum” PM first before I can open the now inaccessible second PM.
36gg, that sounds like a bug with the friend request/PM. I’ll forward to the programmers to see if they can replicate and fix that. Thanks for letting us know.

Hey! Since yesterday I have been having trouble with loading the pages on cam4. I´ve tried different browsers but no change. There isn´t any information about this anywhere so maybe I´m the only one having a problem – if that´s not the case I wonder why you don´t mention it here on the blog? I mean, this blog isn´t frequently updated and by the looks of it not too many ppl on cam4 even know about it. I find this strange since cam4 is a big and popular site. This blog could be very useful since getting a hold of the support on cam 4 is close to non existent.
AND the bug for non-paying users to use smileys isn´t fixed lol. But I´m not complaining about that ;) lol! No need to pay for that atleast :D
WeepinWillow, contacting support in email is the best way to get an answer. Support questions posted here are forwarded to support, usually a few days later. Please contact Kim@cam4.biz if you are still having problems loading pages. This is not a site wide problem.
Non-paying members are not suppose to be able to use smileys. That’s a gold member feature that was broken but is now fixed.

Any progress on adding the option to mute the tipping sound?
xszerd2, you can rollover the bottom of the video and should see another button which mutes the sound of the tipping but not the webcam.
The report abuse from clicking the chat names has always been confusing, which probably puts people off… when you click a name to report abuse the name of the cam owner appears in the top of the dialog box, so people probably cancel it to avoid reporting the performer and not the name they clicked in chat.
MrSh, agreed. That is why we added the new method to report abuse. We are still tweaking it to make sure it works ok.
It would be easier to be able to report profiles of those who aren’t broadcasting that have committed an abuse.
The new abuse button gives at least a bit of an impression of reporting broadcasters and others through the player not working, especially especially those the non-broadcasters that aren’t allowed to be accessing the site.
…As smilies seem to show up automatically, the above should have : P and : D without the spaces. So let us keep the text versions, rather than simply removing bits of punctuation entirely…
Why not allow us non-members to still be able to use colons/semicolons – just for :P, :D, all in text etc – but remove the smilies? It does seem a bit overboard to remove them entirely…
josh, that is just the way the software works. If we allow text versions, it changes them to the graphic.
The new “abuse” button does not work as expected using a Trident engine based browser (Internet Explorer). It does work fine in Webkit engine based browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, Maxthon3… ). I remember a similar issue affecting the InBox dialogs, some time ago.

smilies have always been a gold member feature. There was a bug that allowed some non gold members to use them, that was fixed.
Cam4 will always be free to view cams, broadcast cams and chat.
I think your token system is plain stupid, i’ll never be a Cam4 member as long as that will exist.

The blue box and the sound are both rather annoying…personally I’d prefer to have neither one if possible because I don’t care who is tipping nor how much, although I could deal with the blue box if only the sound could be turned off. I don’t mind seeing when those on my lists are broadcasting but it would be nice to have the option of turning off the blue box for other reasons if that’s possible.
Also, I’ve noticed that there is now a “report abuse” button directly on profiles–how does that work, exactly? I saw a spammer in a room and went to their profile and clicked it but I have no idea if it did anything as it didn’t come up with any menu to specify what you were flagging for like it would in a cammer’s room. I have also always wondered why the “report abuse” button in rooms doesn’t seem to work for the particular user you click on but comes up with the broadcaster’s name instead. Seems like it would be much easier to report a spammer if everyone could click on an offender’s name right there in a room while it’s happening.

The new abuse button makes it easier to report abuse on cam4 such as spammers, scammers, videos or just abusive people. I believe you can but the name of the spammer in the report as they may be spamming a cam you are watching so you wouldn’t want to be reporting that profile for spamming when you click on the link on that page.
You can click on the spammers name in chat and also report. But not many people knew how to use that and people that are not logged in, could not report problems.
Yes there is the sound every time there is a tip with no way to turn it off. It is a bit loud. Any ideas?
Yes I just saw that there is sounds now and an indication of who is tipping in a blue bar. I’ll get someone to make the sound optional and add a check box for that in the profile.
