{"id":4198,"date":"2014-01-28T22:04:48","date_gmt":"2014-01-28T22:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gay.blogs.cam4.com\/?p=4198"},"modified":"2014-01-28T22:04:48","modified_gmt":"2014-01-28T22:04:48","slug":"dear-coke-you-screwed-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cam4.com\/blog-gay\/2014\/01\/dear-coke-you-screwed-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Dear Coke: You Screwed Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Olympics sponsor contends programming was to blame for responses that many considered antigay when pro-LGBT words were entered into various interactive portions of the brand&#8217;s site.<\/p>\n<p>Coca-Cola has apologized and removed the offending program after LGBT activists called out the company, a 2014 Winter Olympics sponsor, for promoting a social media tool that let users customize their own virtual can of Coke but refused to recognize certain words, including &#8220;gay,&#8221; &#8220;lesbian,&#8221; and &#8220;queer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, <i>AmericaBlog<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.advocate.com\/politics\/2014\/01\/27\/share-coke-%E2%80%94-unless-youre-gay\" target=\"_blank\">uncovered<\/a> a South African website that invited users to &#8220;Share a Virtual Coke&#8221; but responded to submissions of pro-gay words with an error message reading, &#8220;Oops. Let&#8217;s pretend you didn&#8217;t just type that.
