How did you first get started streaming, and what drew you to this platform in particular?
I was living in Seattle and happened to come across a Craigslist ad for a male strip club. I thought it’d be fun! I had never done any adult industry stuff before, but I liked to dance, so I went and auditioned. They hired me on the spot. One night there, I was chatting with another dancer’s girlfriend while he was on stage. She said she was a cam model. I asked what that was, and she explained it some and said I should give it a try. So I did! I really enjoyed it, and the rest is history!

I tried out CAM4, and what really impressed me was the coaching sessions. Other platforms, frankly, don’t invest time and resources into developing their streamers like that. I think that shows a kind of dedication to supporting what is, essentially, the lifeblood of the cam industry—the models themselves. That is pretty much completely unique. That just really earns my respect, being someone who takes this art and craft pretty seriously and has put a lot of time and effort into understanding what it really is and how it really works so that I can make my version of it as good as I possibly can.

What do you think sets this platform apart from others in the industry?
It’s kind of the same answer as the second part of the previous one! CAM4 seems to me to be the most dedicated to supporting and developing its streamers, more than any other platform in the industry, bar none. Both the English and Spanish language coaches are extremely knowledgeable and have a high-level understanding of what it takes to be a great cam model. It’s good that each coach has a wide-ranging understanding of cam modeling, and that there are multiple coaches, each with somewhat different perspectives and differing kinds of experience in the industry. You can really get out as much as you put into the coaching sessions, and more, as a cam model seeking to develop your presence. There are lots of interesting and unique things about CAM4, but that’s the thing I love the most.

What’s been your most rewarding experience as a streamer so far?
Well, it isn’t so much a super-distinct event, or what have you, but I love that streaming has not only allowed me but also encouraged me—incentivized me even—to become more comfortable with myself and my own personal flavor of sexual expression. Most work becomes a trade-off between personal development—even health and fitness—and the job. But the healthier and more fit a person I am, both physically and mentally, the more emotionally and spiritually fit I am. In fact, I’d even go so far as to say, it’s given me more capacity to be an even better streamer. They work hand in hand. It’s rare, I think, to find a way to both make money and to make yourself a better you at the same time. Plus, I love that the more realness and authenticity I can bring to bear in my streams, the more I’m rewarded for it. That in itself is super rare in the adult industry and in pretty much any other industry too. The better a person I truly am, the better a cam model I am. That’s a really special thing.

What challenges do you face regularly while streaming, and how do you manage them?
Well, I’d say that cam modeling has really developed, or at the very least leveraged, my ability to have real faith that things are always working out for me. The more of that kind of genuine faith I can embody, the more it tends to be borne out in reality. And yes, there are, at times, people who don’t exactly seem to be… how would you say… Well, I’d put it this way: they seem to be thinking, in the short term, to be trying to fill a need they feel, rather than in that red-hot moment returning exactly the kind of energy that I’m trying to embody. But I’m coming to a place, more and more, where I’m actually grateful for, and appreciative of, those experiences. They teach me, and they show me more of what I do want, or at least make it clearer, and that makes the times where I am being responded to with the energy I try to embody even sweeter! I think it’s hard, if not impossible, to have the one without the other, and probably not as good in the end.

How does the platform support you in building and maintaining your audience?
The new activity feed on CAM4 is a rather exciting feature! CAM4 already had a pretty dedicated and unique user base, and this new feature has the potential to intensify that even more! The private messaging part of the platform seems like it’s already been more well developed and used than analogous parts of other camming platforms, so this newer part provides another avenue for interacting with users and developing those kinds of connections. Plus, as I have already mentioned, the coaching sessions are a great place to develop one’s understanding of how to deepen and broaden those connections.

Do you find that certain features (like interactive toys, tipping games, private shows, etc.) make a big difference in your success?
To be honest, yes. The interactive toy aspect of the cam modeling scene is really important. I mean, let’s be honest, most users watch our streams and interact with us because they feel some kind of erotic connection to and with us. Other kinds of attraction can also be a big important part of it too, but that erotic connection is what makes CAM4 and camming platforms generally distinct from ‘safe-for-work’ streaming platforms. And, to be super frank, cam models, for the very most part, want to be compensated for the experience that they’re offering to the world. So, the toys enable probably the most efficient kind of exchange of what the user wants, namely to consummate that erotic connection in a direct feeling way, with what the cam model wants, or at least kind of requires, along some kind of timeframe—to be compensated. To be very honest, I probably wouldn’t get one-tenth of the tips I do get without them.

How do you balance creating content that excites your audience with keeping things fun and authentic for yourself?
I have embraced a kind of ‘Broadway show’ model for my streams. You know how people are, like with the show ‘CATS’—the show doesn’t really change, but they go and see it a lot because they really love it. That’s kind of been my model. I’ve been considering other ways to add a bit more variety, but the root of it probably won’t change much, unless I find some other big revenue stream, such as collaborations, for example. But even that would still be centered around what my streams are centered around now, which is reaching into my soul and finding that erotic place within me and expressing that to my audience as thoroughly and authentically as I can. Between those moments I also like to have fun conversations with my audience. They can get to know me more, and I can get to know them, and we can share fun moments and ideas, and so forth. It’s kind of like what people call ‘pillow talk,’ maybe! The more sexually explicit stuff is, whilst being fun too, just in a different way, perhaps. I am kind of primal in those moments, to be honest, but it’s also great sometimes to be able to laugh in those sexual moments too!

What advice would you give to someone brand new to the platform who wants to succeed?
I would say the more eroticism, authenticity, and positivity you can bring to bear, the better! I think audiences are so used to everything in the adult industry being so transactional—they are so ‘do for me first and then I’ll do for you’ oriented—that if you can show up with real generosity while embodying those other values, you’ll stand out. And by generosity, I don’t mean just giving things away for free! I mean really seeing things through your audience’s eyes, really empathizing with where they’re coming from, and finding ways to make them feel seen. It sometimes takes patience! And sometimes it takes real emotional labor! Not every single person is going to give you that same generosity back right at that red-hot moment! But if you can really embody that kind of positive authenticity, I truly believe that there’s nothing holding you back from all the good things cam modeling has to offer.

How has being a streamer impacted your life outside of the platform—positively or negatively?
Well, kind of the same as I was alluding to earlier; being a cam model really can align with making yourself a better person inside and out, very, very well. That has certainly been the case for me. On the flip side, however, we are kind of monetizing our libido, and so I think it’s important to hold on to the part of being a sexual entity that isn’t centered around making a buck. Sometimes it can feel like that’s a trade-off. But I also think it’s possible to integrate these things, to find ways of both experiencing your own sexuality for yourself personally, even forming connections with other people that feel real and genuine and are centered around enjoying that connection for itself, whilst also sharing that kind of connection or embodiment with the world—so to speak. I think for most people it’s probably still good to sometimes have those kinds of sexual experiences in private, but I see cam modeling as one of the ways of moving through a professional world that is most able to be truly integrated with the rest of life, in a healthy way.

What’s one thing you wish viewers understood better about the work you do?
I suppose I’d say that every so often, I do kind of wish that more audience members understood just how much goes into being a very good cam model and how, at times, very challenging it can feel. It takes real emotional labor sometimes! Yes, it can be rather physically demanding! But overall I kind of feel lucky to have found it, and I feel that it leverages some less common capacities of mine, like being kind of technologically savvy but also rather smart about maintaining my physical health and fitness in a natural way for the long term, and also having some of what people call ‘emotional intelligence’ and the capacity to connect with people on an emotional level. I guess I would say that that isn’t exactly the most common mix, so perhaps cam modeling is a bit more suited to me than other things might be. And I kind of stumbled into it! So overall I’m grateful, and especially grateful to CAM4 for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts and feelings about these topics.
