Survey: 7 percent ‘led to unprotected sex’ by bareback porn
A survey of over 1,000 gay men by sexual health charity GMFA suggests just under 7 percent believe they were led to having unprotected sex after watching bareback pornography, but more than half thought it led others to do the same.
98 percent of the respondents said they watched porn. Nearly a quarter admitted to watching it daily and just over three-quarters said they viewed porn more than once a week.
Half of the respondents tothe FS Magazine survey said they had videotaped themselves having sex.
A quarter of those, just over 12 percent, had uploaded at least one video to the internet.
Matthew Hodson of GMFA, which publishes FS, said: “It was clear from the response that we got to the survey that gay men are interested in porn.
“It’s impossible to say precisely how much impact watching porn has on people’s behaviour but it seems that many people, gay or straight, learn about sex from porn, and perhaps this is even more true for gay men, as we are less likely to get a gay sex education at school.”
Porn actor Dean Monroe told FS magazine: “Porn is sometimes the first taste of sex a young person gets, so naturally what they see on screen, they might emulate in life.
“Every scene should show the model putting the condom on.”
Liam Cole, a producer of bareback porn counters said: “My porn is not a fantasy, it’s a record of how some gay men fuck. Bareback sex doesn’t take much encouragement.” Read More
